My work begins with drawing: a way of thinking through gesture, perception, and the body. Drawings is intuitive, immediate, present.

My practice spans charcoal, ink, graphite, printmaking, and photography, but is always grounded in the close looking that art history demands. My art practice is not an extension but wholly integrated into my wider art historical work, a method of insight into mark making that informs my writing. From this foundation I pursue enduring questions about ways of inhabiting the world.
